Refund and cancellation policy

Short version: if the product was not worth what you paid, say so. We would rather refund you than argue.

Refunds on the $7 search statement

Full refund within 30 days of purchase, no explanation required. Email hello@whofiledbankruptcy.com with the company name you searched and we refund the whole amount. You do not have to justify it and you will not be asked to.

You keep the statement. Asking you to unread a document would be theatre.

A result of “no case found” is not a defect and it is not a reason we will refuse you a refund either. That result is what a large part of the document is for, and it is priced the same as a result that finds a case. If you expected something else from it, the 30-day refund covers that like anything else.

If the statement contains an error about the company, the court, the case number or the dates, that is our defect. Tell us and you get the corrected statement and a refund, not a choice between them.

If your link stops working, that is also our defect. The link you land on after paying is what builds your statement, and it stays valid and re-runs the search each time. If it ever refuses, email us the link and we will send you the statement or refund you, whichever you would rather have.

If the document does not build

The statement depends on a public court archive answering us, and that archive rate limits and occasionally goes down. When it does, the page tells you so, your link stays valid, and reloading it a minute later builds the document. You are never charged twice and no second payment is taken.

If it still will not build after a few attempts, email hello@whofiledbankruptcy.com with the link. You will get either the statement or your money back the same day, whichever you prefer. To be plain about the mechanics: a refund is issued by a person when you ask for one, usually within hours. It is not automatic and we will not pretend it is.

Refunds on Business Bankruptcy Watch

Full refund of the first monthly charge within 30 days, no explanation required. If the watch did not run, a new filing was missed because our system failed, or the product was not useful to you, email us. After the first month, we refund the latest monthly charge when the paid service failed during that month.

Cancellation

Cancel online from the private management link we email after setup. Cancellation is set in Stripe immediately. Your watch keeps running through the period already paid for, then stops. You are not charged again. If the link fails, email hello@whofiledbankruptcy.com and we set the same cancellation for you.

The $7 statement is still a single purchase and has nothing to cancel.

How long a refund takes

We approve refund requests as we read them, usually the same day. Once approved the money goes back through the card network, which typically takes 5 to 10 business days to appear on your statement. That last part is the bank's timing and outside our control.

Before you file a chargeback

Please email first. Not because a chargeback hurts us, though it does, but because we will almost certainly just refund you and it will be faster than your bank's process.

How to reach a person

Email hello@whofiledbankruptcy.com. That address is read by the person who runs this site, not a ticket queue, and it is the fastest way to get anything fixed. There is a contact page with more on corrections.

Postal mail reaches us at:
