Everything else on this site is free and stays free. The company search, the customer-list checker, all {case pages{'}'}, the chapter explanations, the clawback guide and the franchise charge-off table cost nothing and need no account.
The buy option does not appear on every search, and that is deliberate. We refuse the sale when the search term is a bare trade word like “Roofing”, or a legal form like “Inc” with no company name in it, or too short to mean anything, because a statement searching one of those could not tell you anything about a business. We also refuse when the term looks like a person's name rather than a company, for the reason in the next section. Those checks run as your free result loads, before any payment.
A search that finds nothing is still a full statement and we do sell that one. If your customer has told you they filed and no filing turns up, that is the outcome with the most in it for you, and a dated record of a search across every federal bankruptcy court is exactly what the document is for.
This is the part worth reading twice.
We exclude individual bankruptcy filings to avoid consumer-reporting and privacy risk. Every record is tagged business or individual at the moment it is collected, and only businesses are ever published, searched or counted. If you need a filing by a person, the court itself and PACER are the places to look.
Two public sources. The federal bankruptcy courts' own CM/ECF filing feeds, which carry roughly 24 hours of new docket entries at a time and which we poll twice a day. And the CourtListener RECAP docket archive maintained by the Free Law Project, which reaches back years and which the paid statement queries live.
Search a company, read the record, buy a statement, or watch your own business-customer list. That is all intended. Do not resell our alerts or statements as your own product, scrape the pages in bulk, present our search as a court certificate, or use anything here to state publicly that a named business is bankrupt without checking the court record yourself first. The whole site is built on being accurate about named companies and we will not be a step in getting that wrong.
Coverage is United States federal bankruptcy filings only. We make no promise that the site is available without interruption. If the court archive the statement depends on is unreachable or rate limiting us, the statement is not produced and you are told to reload rather than being handed a document whose search did not happen. A failed watch search does not advance the saved baseline; the next run tries again instead of treating a data outage as “no filing.”
We sell a $7 document and a $29/month filing watch built from public records. Our responsibility is to deliver the product you bought, correct our errors and honor the refund and cancellation policy. We are not responsible for decisions you make from a search or alert, for what a court or trustee decides, or for what your customer does. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that cannot be limited by law.
